5 gallon Stainless Keg Sanitizing
With Co2 Mini Gasser or Co2 tank
· Always clean and sanitize the keg before use. Fully disassemble the keg completely, removing inlet and outlet fittings and also the draw tube. (each is different so don’t get them mixed up) Fill the keg with a mild soap solution and let soak for a few minutes. Wash well and rinse with warm water. Also flush the faucet or valve line assembly. (Do Not Use Bleach) Reinstall the inlet and outlet fittings on to the keg but only hand tighten at this time.
· Use (BTF) Iodophor on Stainless keg. Mix 10-12 % ppm. Dilution to one gallon of water. Seal the keg lid and splash the solution in the keg to coat the inside completely.
o If using the Mini gasser : loosen the keg lid and drain out all the Iodophor solution. Tighten the Inlet and Outlet fittings and attach the mini gasser to the Co2 ‘Inlet. Attach the Hand Faucet to the ‘Outlet’ fitting on the keg. Shoot Co2 into the keg (2-3 burst is enough). From the Hand faucet purge out the Iodophor solution until Co2 only comes out. Open the keg and add ½ gallon filtered water. Seal the keg lid and splash the water in the keg to coat the inside completely. Loosen the keg lid and drain out all the Water. Shoot Co2 into the keg (2-3 burst is enough). From the Hand faucet purge out the water until Co2 only comes out. The keg is now ready to fill.
o If using Co2 tank and regulator: Tighten the Inlet and Outlet fittings and attach the Co2 disconnect to the Co2 ‘Inlet. Attach a Hand Faucet assembly or the quick disconnect to the faucet, to the ‘Outlet’ fitting on the keg. Shoot Co2 into the keg (10-12 Lbs enough). From the faucet purge out the Iodophor solution until Co2 only comes out. Open the keg and add ½ gallon filtered water. Seal the keg lid and splash the water in the keg to rinse the inside completely. From the faucet purge out the water until Co2 only comes out. The keg is now ready to fill.
